GRANDMOTHER AND GRANDDAUGHTER ARTISTS AT MOUNTAIN MAMAS
Betty
Betty Sue Vaughn, born in 1938, started painting after retiring from a banking career in Atlanta. Betty’s granddaughter, Sally Burns (age 9) is an artist. While spending time with Sally, Betty became interested in art. Thanks to Sally’s encouragement and lessons, Betty discovered her own artistic talent and passion for painting. She lives with her husband on the Georgia coast and enjoys painting with both oils and acrylics. Her paintings are held in private collections and her work is exhibited in several art galleries.
Sally and her grandmother, Betty, both exhibit their work at Mountain Mamas Craft & Rock Shop. They are pictured here with some of their folk art paintings. Sally’s roosters have won awards in the Atlanta area. She received her art training at Chastain Art School and Miss Patty Sim’s Studio in Atlanta. Her achievements include: a work selected by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America to be exhibited in a museum in St. Petersburg, Russia; one of her rooster designs selected by her school to be used as their holiday greeting card in 2002. Come and see their unique paintings at Mountain Mamas, as well as the paintings of other unique artists. There are currently 62 women artists who have their arts & crafts in Mountain Mamas.
