MOUNTAIN MAMAS ROCK SHOP

Many of you know Mountain Mamas sells wonderful crafts and pottery made by more than 50 local and regional women artists. But, you may not realize that it has an extensive ROCK SHOP with a large selection of natural crystals and stones, and cut and shaped ones. Mary Alice Stout and Ellen Spangler, 2 of the 8 owners, had a rock shop in South Carolina before moving to Lookout Mountain a few years ago. Their love of rocks shows in the many rock displays they have at Mountain Mamas.

The amethyst display has an assortment of clusters, caves, spheres, and single points. There are also displays of rose quartz, lapis, pyrite, and fossils. The rock shop has more than 100 carved animals in a variety of stones, as well as beautiful crystal balls.

There are polished stones and specimen of many minerals–malachite, calcite, quartz crystal, lepidolite, and jasper, to name a few. Especially beautiful in a window are the geode slices, some in natural colors, others dyed in blues, greens, and purples. There’s something for everyone and everyone’s pocketbook, from 25 cents up.
