Yard Art

Mountain Mamas Pottery and Craft Shop features several artists that make items for your yard.

Robin Hope from Soleil Studio creates and welds her boldly colored critters to stick in the ground anywhere -- large frogs, dragonflies, mermaids, and much more.  Robin says, "I try to make things that are fun, that will make you smile, that trigger a    memory."  That's probably why her pieces are some of our best sellers. Her creations are individually cut from standard sheet metal and ground several times to ensure a smooth quality surface.  The pieces are then either finished with clear gloss, automotive paint, or allowed a natural weathered appearance.  She hopes the exuberance she feels creating each piece will radiate to your life.

Mary Alice Stout, one of our owners, lets her sense of humor show through her gourd birdhouses.  Her favorite ones are cartoon faces of her own black cat, Sooty, ready to swallow any bird coming in the birdhouse hole.  Mary Alice also paints snakes on the wild blueberry roots dug from her garden.  It's fun to watch people's reaction when they see the snakes, whether placed outside or in.

Holly Bergeron, from Rome, creates many beautiful items gourds, birdhouses and feeder, planters and baskets.

And, if you want elegance, come and see the mosaic birdhouses by Martha Sandlin from Cave Spring.  Colorful and unique, each one of these works of art is made to stay outside and retain their beauty.

A different twist on stepping stones is the work of Fayann Schmidt, one of our own potters, who has combined pottery pieces in concrete, making a large mosaic butterfly.
