Kim Vasil from Rome, GA, creates her own homemade soy candles. She hand pours candles made from 100% soy wax and decorates them with beads and semi-precious gemstones on wire. Kim calls her candles "Lodestar Creations." She says the benefits of soy candles are many: Soybeans are a renewable and sustainable resource; Soy burns 98.0% soot free, which is better for your respiratory system; Soy candles burn three times longer than other types of wax. Candles of animals and free-form shapes, in rainbow colors, are made by Anitra Kling of Woodstock, GA. She makes many of her own molds for the unusual shapes. These candles are scent-free and soot-free, and of a very hard wax that can withstand summer heat without losing their shape.

One of the eight owners of Mountain Mamas, Susan Bradley, has had her candles in the shop since we first opened 10 years ago. Her candles are made of the highest quality paraffin and beeswax, blended for long lasting durability and translucence. She has also added a line of soy candles. Her wonderful scents contain essential oils. Susan makes everything from Victorian tapers to large layered pyramids, to scented votive candles, to her favorite seller, the large Victorian rose with hand-formed petals (refillable with votive candles).
