Greeting Cards

Mountain Mamas Unusual "Card Shop"

Most of you know Mountain Mamas Craft and Rock Shop as the place to shop for one-of-a-kind handmade items by local and regional women artists. But you may not realize, that in the Mentone-Cloudland area, we have the largest selection of greeting cards for every occasion, –AND, they are handmade originals by some of our artists. Many of the cards are suitable for framing.

Liz Nunan’s cards are whimsical collages, some with rubber stamped designs, hand painting, funny sayings, clever cat expressions, or wisdom from the Red Hat Society. She also does small "cat sayings" books that are great for gifts for a special friend. Check out her pottery while at Mountain Mamas. Liz loves it here in the summer at her Cloudland cabin.

Patricia Eldridge, from Huntsville, is well-known for her water-color prints and originals. Her cards, prints of her water colors, are very popular, especially her mermaids. Beth Hodges has cards of her beautiful paintings and collages. Her unusual use of color and sometimes haunting images create cards just right for that special occasion. Another painter, Betty Vaughn, has prints of her paintings. Her specialties are roosters, fish, and sunflowers. She enjoys time at her Mentone cabin.

Photographer Rand Hall, part-time resident of Cloudland, has cards with prints of her eye-catching photography and of Sue Cummings art work. Sue catches the personality of unusual people. Rand, with her camera, catches the personality of plants, turtles, and water birds. Another photographer, Faye Quinlan, sees the world through a special eye. You’ll love her cats and some prints of local sights. Susan Phelan, Huntsville photographer, has cards with photos of scenes around Alabama.

For the unusual, SheFay’s cards are photos of small mermaid and dolphin sculptures. Morgana MacVicar has small handmade paper angel cards and regular size cards with whimsical interpretations of ancient art with symbols of female power.

While all of the above variety of cards sell from $1 to $3 each, Susan Riggins has some very attractive small cards for 50 cents each. Susan works with rubber stamps, creating multi-colored cards with butterflies or hawks. She also has small and medium bags for gift wrapping, and small boxes, all stamped with Native American designs.
